Liverpool 'make contact with Jurgen Klopp and Carlo Ancelotti

Liverpool have made contact with representatives of Jurgen Klopp and Carlo Ancelotti following the sacking of Brendan Rodgers, according to a report on Monday morning.

Multiple reports from various sources suggest that the wheels are already in motion for the appointment of a new boss.

And with the two out-of-work and highly regarded European coaches both approached already, Liverpool are seemingly making good on their promise to have a new permanent manager by the time they play their next Premier League match, away at Tottenham on October 17.
Former Borussia Dortmund manager Klopp is the runaway favourite. The German, who won the Bundesliga title in 2011 and 2012, was said by sources close to him recently to be interested in a move to England and ready to cut short his sabbatical.
However, Ancelotti is also in the mix and is reported to have flown to London, where he previously worked with Chelseaand where Liverpool’s owners Fenway Sports Group have an office.
The Italian is a distinct second second favourite to land the Anfield job, however, with Monday's Telegraph claiming thatAnfield chiefs believe Klopp would be a better fit for the club's ethos.
Liverpool made clear in their statement confirming Rodgers' departure after more than three years in the job that "the search for a new manager is underway and we hope to make an appointment in a decisive and timely manner.”
Klopp's known interest in the job means he is currently heading the field.
Extra detail comes courtesy of PA, who say Liverpool want an experienced head after taking a big punt on Rodgers, who had only one season of Premier League football withSwansea on his CV before landing the Anfield job:
" Press Association Sport understands their next appointment will be one with a proven record - which is why three-time Champions League winner Carlo Ancelotti, a success in Italy, Spain and England, and former Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp are top of the list. There is a feeling among owners Fenway Sports Group that a new man will get better results and performances from the existing squad of players."

A club legend backs Klopp

Jamie Carragher had this to say on Sky Sports on Sunday:
" I think with either of those coming to Liverpool, the Liverpool supporters would be ecstatic: Carlo Ancelotti a Champions League winner three times, and we know what Klopp did at Borussia Dortmund. If it was me I would go for Klopp ahead of Ancelotti. I think he's got more to prove. Ancelotti is a great manager of course but he's gone to clubs where you would expect to win trophies. It's a difficult job now at Liverpool getting them back into the top four. Forget talking about the title. And I think it needs someone with that energy and drive to get Liverpool back to where it wants to be and I think Jurgen Klopp's that man."
